44 Hour Cross Country Road Trip with Kids

Are we crazy? Yes! Did we have fun? Yes! We did, however break up the trip with a few bucket list stops along the way because…KIDS. Let me share how we survived the longest road trip of my life.

What happens when your second baby is a screamer (happy screams) and you get invited to a wedding when your oldest is the flower girl?

Well—let’s just say we opted to save the sanity of the passengers on the plane we would’ve been on and decided to road trip!

…road trip from CALIFORNIA to MICHIGAN…

You read that right—a cross country road trip with two kids. So how did we do it? We did it by letting go of expectations and control. We packed minimally, let our daughter pick her activities for the car (shopped our own home), grabbed some library books, and packed all the snacks!

We broke up the trip with a few stops along the way—Arizona, New Orleans, Nashville and on to Michigan. We booked places to stay along the way so we didn’t stress about needing to be anywhere on certain days. Here are a few of the small businesses that we checked out.
