There’s something about the intensity of rain that is calming. I know that sounds contradictory but I recently traveled to New Orleans for a wedding, solo, and got caught in a few intense rain moments. Because I was by myself, I walked through the rain with a clear mind and a sense of presence that when I heard the sound of the rain as I walked down the streets, I couldn’t help but smile.
I don’t know if it’s the fact that I don’t drink alcohol anymore, or if I just needed some time away from the busyness of life— but I embraced the rain. I embraced it as a sign to slow down. I embraced it as a reminder to listen. I embraced it as fun.
It helped remind me to find peace, gratitude and fun in the midst of chaos.
My encouragement for you: Slow down, and find the joy when it rains.
