Earth Month, Children’s Books

We are fully stocked on books to read this month all thanks to our local library! The theme: Earth Month. Heading to the local library is one of our favorite things to do! 


With Earth Month here, I wanted to theme our daughters books to help her learn and understand how we can do our part to protect the Earth. Here is a list of what we checked out to read during Earth Month 2022:


Old Enough to Save the World
Author: Loll Kirby
This book is great inspiration for your kids to learn that they’re not too young to make a difference.


Earth! my first 4.54 billion years
Author: Stacy McAnulty
A great book for quick kid-friendly facts about the Earth, from the Earth’s perspective!


Zee grows a tree

Author: Elizabeth Rusch
Love this one for showing kids how trees grow!


Hike

Author: Pete Oswald
This book shows the importance of spending time in nature and how it can be a great bonding experience for families.


Anywhere Farm

Author: Phyllis Root
A great book for teaching kids all the different ways (and places) that you can plant and grow things. Great encouragement for little helpers in the garden. 


The last straw: kids vs. plastics

Author: Susan Hood
Great introduction to the harm that plastic is doing to the planet!


Peppa Pig and the Earth Day Adventure

Everything about this book is so cute! From Peppa recycling and composting, to visiting the Botanical Gardens– so much eco friendly goodness to learn in this one.

 

Earth Day Every Day
Author: Lisa Bullard
This book shares easy and practical ways that kids can help the environment!

Our daughter is terrified of bees— loved this book and the way it introduces bees and how to understand why they are important.

Author: Ted Kooser
A great book that shows the importance of recycling.

Author: Deborah Diesen
This book helps teach kids the importance of keeping the oceans because of how it affects marine life.

Author: Jess French
There are a lot of facts in this one! Great book for sharing how small actions can make a big impact.

 

Kate, who tamed the wind
Author: Liz Garton Scanlon
A beautiful book about the important role trees play in our lives, and caring for the world around us.

 

Tiny, perfect things
Author: M. H. Clark
Encouragement to see and cherish the beautiful things all around us! Also, to get out and walk in nature more.

 

Rocket says clean up!
Author: Nathan Bryon
Super cute book about a girl organizing a beach cleanup after seeing the harmful effects that plastic has on marine life.
