I keep hearing about all of these interesting places all over Southern California, and think to myself, “Do I live under a rock!?” How have I not heard of these?? One place, in particular, is Great Wolf Lodge; an indoor water park resort. Everything at the resort was built and designed with families in mind. We were invited as a family to check it out for a day and loved it. Here are 11 reasons why we’re definitely coming back to Great Wolf Lodge (and bringing a large crew with us).

They go big for Holidays. Great Wolf Lodge recently hosted their annual Snowland Holiday Celebration. The Grand Lobby was decorated like a winter wonderland with a giant Christmas tree, lights, and snowed daily. All Snowland activities were complimentary with an overnight stay. Some of the activities families enjoyed during Snowland were: Special dining in a life-sized gingerbread house that can seat up to 10 guests for breakfast, lunch or dinner ♦ Daily visits from Santa ♦ Cookie decorating with Mrs. Claus ♦ Hot Cocoa (with fun toppings to customize) ♦ Snow ‘n’ Glow Dance Party with glow sticks under falling snowflakes ♦ Family holiday movies in the Grand Lobby ♦ Earning a Snowploma from North Pole University ♦ Holiday themed crafts ♦ and more!

Seasonal wolf ears. When you check in to Great Wolf Lodge, you’ll get wolf ears. Each season, there is a new design of ears. The Snowland ears right now are so cute! We snagged a pair on our visit and loved wearing them all over the resort.

The rooms are spacious. Before we even get to the rooms, I have to share that the lights that illuminate the hallways on each floor, each have an animal on them and they point to the lobby. So if you ever get lost or don’t know which way to go, follow the lights.

Each room at Great Wolf Lodge is a suite. Most rooms can accommodate large families. They also have themed rooms that the kids will love because some have bunk beds, are decorated like cabins, and a few even have their own TVs.

There was a Snowland suite as well. The perfect suite to spend Christmas Eve/morning because they had a decorated Christmas tree….IN THE SUITE. The characters from the resort actually hand delivered milk and cookies to you and your family in this suite.

Photo opportunities are endless. Everywhere you turn there is a photo opp for either the whole family or just for your kids. I think our daughter started to get annoyed because I made her stop and take a photo every five seconds. Hi…Momarazzi is just doing her job over here!

Character appearances are fun for the kids. We got to meet Wiley, Violet and Oliver on our visit and it was such a fun experience. All of the kids in our group just lit up. Our daughter surprisingly LOVED seeing them as well. We heard that in regularly scheduled visits, they sing and dance…and so YES we will be coming back to see that amazingness happen.

The gift shop has such cool stuff. Like always, I visited the gift shop before anything. All I have to say is if you’re a souvenir person, then the gift shop will be your favorite spot. There are so many awesome gifts! They also have an online store. Not everything in the gift shop is in the online store, but there is a pretty good selection.

The desserts are delicious. Actually, all the food in general is fantastic. We had a catered buffet brunch where we got to taste a few of their favorite dishes and desserts. The Executive Chef Hany Ali shared, “We have so much fun working here!” which definitely shows in the way that the food is prepared, presented and its flavor. Everything was fantastic! Our daughter even ate all of her food! Hallelujah!

Prepare yourself for the desserts…Some of our favorites were…

The mini pancakes

OMG you guys….the S’mores pizza is AMAZING.

The milkshake station

So many “dry” activities. Great Wolf Lodge sure knows how to make everyone happy on a family vacation (or staycation). There are plenty of fun activities to do that aren’t part of the water park. Some of our favorites were…

Ten Paw Alley (bowling)

Northern Lights Arcade

MagiQuest

The swim shop is perfect if you forgot something. We ran into the issue of almost not finding a bathing suit for our daughter, because of the season. We procrastinated and waited until the night before our trip to search for one. All the toddler bathing suits were pretty much out of stock. Because who buys a bathing suit in the Winter?? The Swim Shop is a lifesaver. There is sunscreen, flip flops, bathing suits, bags, water bottles, etc…you name it! So convenient; especially during the off season.
